OTHER LIVING ENTITIES

The idea behind FEMeeting was orchestrated by
the Portuguese artist Marta de Menezes
and scholar Dalila Honorato.

Launched in 2017, the conference “FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology” was driven by the desire to develop and promote more direct collaboration between individuals who identify themselves as Women, independently of their sex .

FEMeeting acknowledges the social relevance of a core community and its role for the future. FEMeeting’s main purpose is to disseminate projects that are being carried out by women in order to contribute (a) to the development of research methodologies in art and science and (b) to the development of collaboration strategies that can increase knowledge sharing and bring communities together.

FACTT – Festival of Art & Science: Transdisciplinary and Transnational

Through this Festival of Art and Science, Cultivamos Cultura in Partnership with the Arte Institute intends to clarify the importance and intersection of these two areas, across the world.

Our aim is to promote the interdisciplinary dialogue and reflection through debates and exhibitions, and to identify and analyse the various ways in which both areas are currently interconnected. Furthermore, we look forward to bringing together an educational component to science and art in Portugal by making it available to the general public. Cultivamos Cultura and The Arte Institute also intend to facilitate the cultural and knowledge exchange between Portugal and the rest of the world. Every year FACTT includes an exhibition, conference and workshops that take place in Lisbon, first, and then in several countries around the world. New York (USA), Toronto (CA), Mexico City (MX), Berlin (DE), Corfu (GR) are some of the locations, where we partner up with local universities and exhibitions spaces to host the events.

The travel around the world of a plant –real, artificial or fictive– telling her own story, the stories of other plants and living creatures (other than human and humans) that she encounters.

The Traveling Plant is a series of new artworks and events created and taking place in different times and locations around the world under the direction of a network of diverse participating organisations and curators.

This project intends to avoid anthropomorphism and anthropocentrism presenting the point of being and point of view of the plant about herself and her surroundings. The project will unfold over several years, in a slow process, in line with plant rhythms. Its format will be developed through different online and physical events, an all its possible hybrid combinations
